  • Q:Is there any penalty if my mileage registered is more than 9,000 km within the policy year?

    A:

    No, there is no penalty imposed if you exceed the mileage requirement. However, you will not be eligible for the premium discount upon policy renewal. Under such circumstances, the full insurance premium for your private car insured under Income will apply.

  • Q:I am an off-peak car owner, can I participate in the FlexiMileage scheme?

    A:

    Yes, you can participate in FlexiMileage or continue to enjoy the off-peak car discount. However, you will not be able to enjoy both benefits at the same time.

  • Q:I own more than one car, can I participate in the FlexiMileage scheme for all my cars?

    A:

    Yes, you can.
     

  • Q:My vehicle is currently driven for less than 9,000 km per year. Will I get the mileage discount up front?

    A:

    When you apply for this scheme through our online portal, the mileage discount will be accorded based on the annual estimated mileage you declared. However, the actual annual mileage travelled will be verified at our Motor Service Centre when we install the telematics device in your vehicle. However, if you are not the first car owner, please provide documentary proof and your car servicing sheet for the last one year for verification purposes.

  • Q:I switched from the off-peak car scheme to FlexiMileage. However, I could not meet the mileage requirements to benefit from the FlexiMileage premium discount. As such, am I allowed to revert to the off-peak car scheme and benefit from the discount?

    A:

    Yes, you are able to revert to the off-peak car scheme upon renewal.

  • Q:Who is eligible?

    A:

    FlexiMileage is applicable to all private car owners who consent to have a telematics device installed in their private car. However, the premium discount will be given only to those whose vehicles are driven for less than 9,000 km per policy year.

  • Q:What is FlexiMileage?

    A:

    FlexiMileage is a scheme offered to private car owners who drive their vehicles for 9,000 km or less per year. They can enjoy a premium discount if their annual mileage is registered as follows:

    • Below 5,000 km (35% discount)
    • 5,000 – 9,000 km (20% discount)
  • Q:How is Income’s FlexiMileage different from those offered by other insurers?

    A:

    Income is constantly looking to steer and focus business innovations to improve the accessibility and delivery of insurance to customers to enhance their experience.

    This means that private car owners can now influence the motor insurance premiums they pay according to the distance they drive.

  • Q:How do I apply for the FlexiMileage scheme?

    A:

    As an existing Income motor insurance policyholder, you will need to:

    1. submit your application through <www.income.com.sg/FlexiMileage>
    2. install the telematics device, free of charge, at Income Motor Service Centre (UB. One, 81 Ubi Avenue 4 #01-18/19, Singapore 408830).

    The Motor Service Centre is open Monday to Friday from 9am – 6pm and on Saturday, 9am – 1pm. It is closed on Sunday and public holidays.

    For non-Income motor insurance policyholder, the registration and installation process is the same. However, you will need to insure your car with Income to participate in the FlexiMileage scheme.

  • Q:Why is Income launching FlexiMileage?

    A:

    As Singapore’s leading motor insurer, we have specially designed this usage-based scheme for low mileage drivers. FlexiMileage enables these drivers to save more on their insurance premium because they spend less time on the road.

  • Q:Do I have to pay for the telematics device or any installation fee?

    A:

    The telematics device and installation are currently provided free of charge.

Premium Discount
  • Q:Are the usual 5% Loyalty Discount and No-claim Discount (NCD) still applicable under FlexiMileage?

    A:

    Yes, both discounts are still applicable. The mileage discount is on top of the current discounts that you are enjoying.

  • Q:I am currently on the FlexiMileage scheme for 10 months and recently received a renewal notice. Does that mean I will be accorded the mileage discount based only on the last 10 months?

    A:

    Yes, we will estimate your annual mileage based on data from the last 10 months. If you are eligible, we will automatically include the discount in your renewal notice.

Telematics device
  • Q:What if my vehicle is damaged due to the device?

    A:

    The telematics device is safe and will not affect the operation of your vehicle. We will take full responsibility and rectify all damages to your vehicle if they were caused by the device.

  • Q:If my telematics device is damaged, will I be able to get a replacement? Do I have to pay for the replacement unit?

    A:

    We will replace the telematics device for you free of charge. Please call 6788 6616 or visit Motor Service Centre to arrange for a replacement

  • Q:After I apply for this FlexiMileage scheme online, when will I need to install the telematics device?

    A:

    You will have to visit our Motor Service Centre to install the device within 14 days of your application for the FlexiMileage scheme. The quotation offered to you based on the annual mileage that you declared at application is valid for 14 days and is dependent on the verification of the declared annual mileage at the Motor Service Centre.

  • Q:What happens if I were to meet with a motor accident in between the time that I applied for FlexiMileage online and installing the telematics device at the Motor Service Centre? Will I still be covered under the insurance policy?

    A:

    The motor accident will be covered as long as you have a valid motor insurance at the point of the accident and the accident falls within the effective policy period and the premium has been paid.

  • Q:How do I activate the telematics device?

    A:

    Our Customer Care Executive at the Motor Service Centre will help you install the device and complete the registration.

  • Q:How do I monitor the total mileage travelled by my car?

    A:

    Upon successful registration and installation of the telematics device, you will be able to view your mileage by logging in your user account via www.incomefleximileage.com.sg

  • Q:If the telematics device was accidentally removed from my car for a period of time, will you still be able to capture my mileage and give me the premium discount accordingly?

    A:

    We will not be able to award you a premium discount if we are not able to track accurate reading of your vehicle mileage. If your private car is sent for servicing, please ensure that your workshop replaces the device if it needs to be removed for diagnostic checks.

  • Q:What is the function of the telematics device?

    A:

    The device is used to capture the mileage travelled by your private car which you have registered under the FlexiMileage scheme. There is no personal data stored in the device.
