Death benefit
  • Q:How much is payable for accidental death benefit?

    A:


    This table shows the benefits we will pay in the different circumstances of accidental death.

    69 or under 100% of sum assured 30% of sum assured 100% of premium paid will be refundable if death happens within one year from cover start date. But, if death happens after one year from the cover start date, $5,000 is payable.
    70 or above 100% of premium paid will be refundable if death happens within one year from cover start date. But, if death happens after one year from the cover start date, $5,000 is payable.

    This benefit is payable only if death happens within 365 days of the accident. The policy will end when we make this payment.

  • Q:What are the exclusions under the accident death benefit?

    A:

    We will not pay the benefit if death is caused directly or indirectly by:

    • deliberate acts such as self-inflicted injuries, suicide or attempted suicide;
    • unlawful acts, provoked assault or deliberate exposure to danger;
    • the effects of alcohol, drugs or any dependence;
    • illnesses, psychological conditions or eating disorders;
    • heat stroke;
    • a bad reaction to drugs or medication;
    • the effects of viruses (for example, dengue), bacteria or diseases;
    • the negative effects or complications of medical and surgical care;
    • treatment aimed at improving appearance, such as cosmetic surgery or any treatment relating to a previous cosmetic treatment;
    • radiation or contamination from radioactivity;
    • being in any aircraft, except as a fare-paying passenger in a commercial aircraft, or during military operations in peacetime;
    • military, air force or naval operations, except when carried out in peacetime;
    • warlike operations (whether war is declared or not), war, invasion, riot or any similar event;
    • an accident which happens outside of Singapore, if the insured has been outside Singapore for more than 180 days in a row at the time of the accident

  • Q:What are covered under the early stage of major cancers benefit?

    A:

    The following is covered under early stage of major cancers benefit:

    • Carcinoma in situ (CIS)
    • Early prostate cancer
    • Early thyroid cancer
    • Early bladder cancer
    • Early chronic lymphocytic leukaemia
  • Q:What are covered under the advanced stage of major cancers benefit?

    A:

    Major cancers are covered. Major cancers refer to a malignant tumour characterised by the uncontrolled growth and spread of malignant cells with invasion and destruction of normal tissue. This diagnosis must be supported by histological evidence of malignancy and confirmed by an oncologist or pathologist.

    The list of exclusions under the advanced stage of major cancers can be found in the policy document.

  • Q:Is there a waiting period for early and advanced stage of major cancers benefit?

    A:

    Yes, a waiting period of 90 days will apply from the cover start date for early and advanced stage of major cancers benefit.

    Cover start date means the date:

    • we issue the policy;
    • we issue an endorsement to include or increase a benefit; or
    • we reinstate the policy;

     whichever is latest.

  • Q:How many times can I claim for early stage of major cancers benefit?

    A:

    We will only pay this benefit once. We will not pay it again even if the policy is renewed.

  • Q:Will a claim for early stage of major cancers benefit reduce the sum assured of the plan?

    A:

    No, a claim for early stage of major cancers benefit will not result in a reduction of the sum assured.

  • Q:What are the exclusions for early stage and advanced stage of major cancers benefit?

    A:

    We will not pay this benefit if your claim arises from:

    • deliberate misuse of drugs or alcohol;
    • acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), AIDS-related complex or infection by human immunodeficiency virus (HIV);
    • An early stage of major cancers benefit, or an advanced stage of major cancers benefit where the insured did not survive for 30 days after its diagnosis; or
    • An early or advanced stage of major cancers, where the insured suffered symptoms of, had investigations for, or was diagnosed with, the disease any time before or within 90 days after the cover start date.
Cash Value and Bonuses

    A:

    No, there is no cash value for this policy as this is a non-participating policy.

  • Q:Is this policy eligible for any bonus?

    A:

    No, this policy is not eligible for any bonus as this is a non-participating policy.

  • Q:Is there a surrender value for my policy?

    A:

    No, there is no surrender value as this is a non-participating policy.

Eligibility and Premium Payments
  • Q:What are the entry age and premium payment terms available?

    A:

    The minimum entry age is set at 30 years (last birthday) and the maximum entry age is set at 64 years (last birthday).

    Premium is payable throughout the policy term. Policy is guaranteed renewable every 10 years after inception with a maximum expiry age of 84 (last birthday).

    However, if the insured‘s 84th birthday falls within the next contract term, we will only renew it up to the anniversary immediately after the insured reaches the age of 84 (last birthday).

  • Q:Can I use funds in Central Provident Fund or Supplementary Retirement Scheme to buy this policy?

    A:

    No, you can only use cash to buy this policy.

  • Q:Is the premium payable for this policy guaranteed?

    A:

    No, the premium payable is not guaranteed and is subject to review. We will give you six months’ written notice should there be a need to revise the premium.

  • Q:What is the minimum and maximum sum assured for this policy?

    A:

    This plan comes in 3 fixed sum assured:

    1. Sum assured of $50,000
    2. Sum assured of $80,000
    3. Sum assured of $100,000

    The maximum sum assured per insured is set at $100,000. The insured cannot be covered for more than $100,000 sum assured by buying multiple policies.

Application & Processing
  • Q:Can I backdate my policy application?

    A:

    Yes, you can backdate your policy application to one day before the insured’s birthday if all of the following conditions are met:

    1. Policy applications cannot be back dated earlier than 01 Jan 2014; and
    2. Policy applications cannot be back dated for more than 6 months.
  • Q:What are the documents to be submitted for application?

    A:

    These are the standard documents needed for all applications:

    Additional documents may be required, depending on the health condition of the insured and amount of coverage.

    • My Financial Portfolio / Fact Find Form
    • Copy of proposer’s / insured’s NRIC
    • Cash or cheque (Payable to “NTUC Income”) where applicable
    • GIRO form, where applicable
  • Q:When will the insurance coverage commence?

    A:

    Cover commences upon underwriting approval and receipt of premium payment. We will inform you the date of commencement of cover in writing.

  • Q:Will there be any insurance coverage while the application is being processed?

    A:

    We will refund the premium paid if the insured dies while the application is being processed.

  • Q:What are the methods of payment available?

    A:

    We offer the following payment methods for your convenience:

    • By GIRO deduction
    • By direct payment e.g. cheque, cash, NETS, credit card. Credit card payment is restricted to first premium payment for regular premium life insurance application. Subsequent premium payments have to be made using GIRO, cash or cheques.
    • By internet banking, AXS, ATM or phone banking.

    We encourage payment by GIRO deduction for regular premium payment as it reduces the administrative work for all parties involved.

  • Q:What is the arrangement for GIRO deduction?

    A:

    The arrangements are as follows:

    • GIRO Form
      1. You have to submit the GIRO form to authorise GIRO deduction.
      2. Kindly have the form verified by an insurance adviser / servicing staff before submission.
    • Commencement
      1. After receiving the GIRO form, we will arrange with the bank to start the deduction as early as possible. We will inform you in writing as soon as the arrangement is confirmed.
    • Deduction Dates
      1. The deduction dates in each month are the 6th day of the month (first attempt) and 18th day of the month (second attempt)
      2. The deduction date will be rescheduled to the next working day if the 6th or 18th day of the month falls on Sunday or Public Holiday.
      3. We will send you a notice if any premium cannot be deducted due to insufficient funds in the account.
    • Receipt

    We will not issue any receipt for premiums deducted through GIRO. The deduction will be shown in the bank statement.

  • Q:Can all types of credit card be used to make payment?

    A:

    Currently we only accept MasterCard and Visa cards. Other cards such as Diners or American Express are not accepted. You may wish to note that debit cards are also not accepted.

  • Q:When will the premiums be deducted from credit card?

    A:

    Once the life insurance application has been approved and credit card details have been entered in our system, the premium will be deducted within five working days.

  • Q:Can I request for the policy document to be hand delivered instead of being sent by post?

    A:

    Please note that the default option will be by post (i.e. policy document sent directly to policyholder – via normal/non-registered mail). If you wish the policy document to be hand delivered, please select “By Hand” option on the top right-hand corner of the application form.
